Do You Need a Tesla Dealer for Windshield Replacement?

Short answer: no. But your technician better know what they're doing.

Tesla windshield replacement

Quick Answer: Nope — but your technician better know what he's doing.

Here's what Tesla owners need to know about windshield replacement:

  1. Tesla windshields are loaded with tech. Tesla comes equipped with cameras and rain sensors connected in the front windshield. This isn't your standard piece of glass.
  2. Replacement requires skill. The cameras and sensors make windshield replacement more difficult — unless you're working with a skilled replacement technician who knows the vehicle.
  3. Calibration is mandatory. You need to go with an auto repair shop that has access to windshield calibration for Tesla vehicles. After the new glass is installed, the cameras and sensors need to be recalibrated to function correctly.
  4. Sometimes calibration happens at the shop. Even the best replacement techs may still need to calibrate your Tesla windshield at their facility, depending on the model and equipment required.
  5. Not every mobile shop can do this. If your selected auto glass repair company doesn't have access to windshield calibration, you're stuck — you'll need another company to handle it separately. This is a huge waste of time, and something a lot of mobile repair shops don't want to tell you upfront.
  6. Hatch Auto Glass has calibration capability. We have windshield calibration equipment and have repaired numerous Tesla windshields. We handle the replacement and calibration in one visit so you're not bouncing between shops.

If you drive a Tesla in Arizona and need your windshield replaced, give us a call. We'll take care of the glass and the ADAS calibration so your cameras and sensors work like new.
